Supportive Services for Veteran Families

Veterans Inc. provides financial and support services to Veteran Families through the Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) Program.  The program is a housing stability-focused service delivery program for very low-income veteran families throughout New England.  This program will serve as many as 400 very-low income veteran families that are homeless or imminently at-risk of being homeless.   The goal is to stabilize these families in housing, while providing on going support as needed to sustain independent living.

SSVF Services Include:

  • Case Management
  • Outreach
  • Health care services
  • Daily living services
  • Personal financial planning services
  • Transportation services
  • Fiduciary and payee services
  • Legal services
  • Child care services
  • Housing counseling services
  • Temporary financial assistance, including time-limited payments to third parties for rent, utilities, moving expenses, security and utility deposits, transportation, child care, moving costs and emergency supplies

To be eligible for the SSVF program, veterans and veteran families must meet ALL THREE criteria below:

  1. Veteran and Veteran Family status -  a single veteran, or a family in which the head of household or the spouse of the head of household is a veteran
  2. Low income –  that does not exceed 50% of your area’s median income
  3. Occupying Permanent Housing – you are either already in permanent housing and are trying to avoid eviction OR you are homeless but are scheduled to move into permanent housing within 90 days
